Donna Watson Reflects On Queen’s Honours

June 23, 2012

Bermuda Track & Field president Donna-Mae Watson was recently honoured for her contribution to sports in Bermuda, receiving a Queen’s Certificate & Badge of Honour in the Queen’s 2012 Birthday Honours List

Mrs Watson received a message to call Government House and assumed it was in reference to an upcoming track event, however when she called she was informed that her name was on this year’s Queen’s Honours list. ”I was in my office, so I couldn’t scream, jump and carry on,” Mrs Watson said.

Mrs Watson said, “It’s always nice when you put in the work and it is recognised. The most exciting part of all of this was going home and telling my son, who was over the moon. I am really, really grateful and overwhelmed.”

Mrs. Watson is a dedicated sports enthusiast and former athlete who has represented Bermuda internationally in track and field. She is the current President of the Bermuda Track and Field Association and was Chairperson of the Organising Committee for the 2012 CARIFTA Games held in Bermuda in April 2012.
