City Of Hamilton Wi-Fi ‘Moving Forward’

July 18, 2012

The wi-fi network planned for the City of Hamilton was originally scheduled to be launched last month is still moving ahead the City said, with a few technical aspects of the network now being refined.

In May of this year Hamilton Mayor Graeme Outerbridge said: “I am pleased to announce that the City of Hamilton is launching a Wi-Fi Network with full city coverage. The Wi-Fi service will enhance the experience of visitors and workers in the City of Hamilton and will be formally launched in June.”

Last night a City of Hamilton spokesperson said: “The City of Hamilton’s Wi-Fi initiative is moving forward. We are refining a few technical aspects of the network and anticipate formally launching the service within the coming weeks. People with Wi-Fi enabled devices will be able to access the internet via the Wi-Fi network in public areas throughout the city.”

Don’t bank on it for a long time yet. It still doesnt get through building walls close to City Hall and I still have a problem seeing it in the entire house on Union Street. Would be nice though_cant wait to give up cell service for twice to four times the cost.

      Is that not TBI?

      If it is TBI,then it’s $29.95 a month.
(There are also daily and hourly rates).

This is good news for everyone who enjoys going to websites on the Internet! There have been so many times when I’ve been in town on my iPhone, drinkin a soda while wishing that I could go to a site that has funny pictures on it, funny enough to make me laugh while drinkin the soda and look silly to everyone around me! I think I can do this now that the internet will be everywhere in Hamilton!

I agree. This will be extremely beneficial to my in-town-soda-drinking-lolcat-reading experience.

Maybe they lost the tape where the permission was granted.Or maybe TBI have promised all employees twill vote PELp?

This is not a free service. Don’t be conned.

  7. Howdy says:

Wifi… they should concentrate on fixing the blasted roads first! The pot holes, poorly done “resurfacing” and trench work patch ups are horrible!
