Digicel, BF&M Launch $9.99 P/M Phone Insurance

July 26, 2012

Digicel has partnered with BF&M to provide phone insurance to its customers. The service costs $9.99 per month and allows customers who have purchased a device from Digicel to insure the device against theft, damage or accidental loss. It is available both for new purchases and to customers who already have phones they would like to insure.

“We realize that phones are not cheap commodities,” stated Digicel Bermuda CEO, Wayne Caines. “One of the worst feelings is to spend hard earned money on a new phone, only to have it lost or stolen, and then to pay more money to replace it. Insuring your phone ensures your peace of mind.”

BF&M CEO, John Wight, stated, “BF&M is pleased to partner with Digicel to provide this new service. In a world of constant communication, a phone is an essential component, both from a commercial or personal perspective. BF&M is therefore delighted to provide the reassurance that your phone is protected, and phone insurance is just one more example of our commitment to offer new insurance products and services to meet the consumer’s evolving needs.”

Mr Caines continued, “It’s very important to us that this phone insurance is affordable. For the monthly price of a large smoothie, you can protect yourself from having to pay hundreds of dollars at once to replace a lost or stolen phone.”

There is a limit of two claims per year for each customer and coverage must be in place for three months before the first claim may be made. “We recommend buying phone insurance as soon as possible for our customers’ peace of mind, especially because of the three month requirement,” stated Mr. Caines.
