Bermuda Sailors Competing In Wales
[Updated] Bermuda sailors are currently competing in the Volvo Gill Optimist British and Open Championships which is currently underway in Pwllheli, Wales.
Eager Optimist sailors were greeted with tricky conditions on the first day, as the morning opened with strong winds and rain, bringing with it a choppy 3-5 foot sea state. The main fleet attempted to brave the conditions but promptly returned to shore to let the 20 knots of breeze pass.
Sailing in the 139 Senior Fleet, Rory Caslin is currently in 32nd place with 62 points after five races, Caslin has one top ten finish, meanwhile Alice Reeves is currently in 94th place with 165 points, Reeve has finished in the thirties three times.
In the 172 boat Junior Fleet, Camille Chin-Gurret has sailed in six races and is in 80th with 191 points, Chin-Gurret has finished in the top fifty four times.
Grace Reeves is in eighth place in the 50 Boat Regatta Racing Fleet, Reeves has two second place finishes out of the seven races sailed and has 74 points.
Meanwhile Luke Madeiros is in 20 place with 74 points after five races in the 40 boat Regatta Coaching Fleet, Madeiros had finished in the top twenty five in all five races.
Ethan Madeiros is in 20th place competing in the 30 boat Mini Racers Fleet with 75 points, Madeiros has finished in the top twenty three times.
