great showcasing talents and all….but does everything in this country have to be religion (christian) based?

    • aasde says:

Agreed. I know I am also getting rather sick of it.

  2. Dantes Inferno says:

A life without the one true god is not worth living.

  3. la'sigh says:

@Dantes Inferno – You do realize your ancestors were forced to become the new religion that even allows slavery. And before you go into Jesus speaking out against it he didn’t. (Ephesians 6:5, 1 Timothy 6:1-2 & Luke 12:47-48)

I can’t believe that I am actually assisting here, but this camp has had several different themed performances this summer, thus the idea that it is “always about religion and God” is wrong.

There are numerous performances in this country that have nothing to do with God or religion. Get a grip guys – - if you don’t wanna believe, that’s fine – but don’t knock anyone who wants to believe.

No one i knocking anyone. Just asking why, most events in Bda has to be attached to a religion? Many events start off with a prayer, or someone thanks ‘god’ at some point.

Same title: Spotlight Summer Camp To showcase children’s’ talents. See the difference? I have removed the religious over tones, and kept to the theme of the camp.

I know people working, and attending the camp and it is a great avenue for them to explore their skills.

If the fear, love, belief and respect of God was put back into every single thing on that island, you would see a profound change in what we see today.

I cannot confirm 100% but for you to make such a statement I can assume that you are not a Bermudian. I have made that assumtion based on the fact that 90% of Bermudians 30yrs and above have been to church, sunday school, vocation bible school, pathfinders, mass or some churched based function and is considered a norm.

The last survey that I carried out well over 10 years ago was that there was at least 153 churches with various denominations in Bermuda and with that said, to not have a prayer said, or something to do with God, Jehovah, St. Mary, Allah is not foreign but is unusal.

    • BDA Cedar Tree says:

wow!! well i have a son n also friends that are working and attending this camp and for the whole summer from day one there has been a very strong positive showcase from all children that didnt think they had it in their self to even perform… i dont understand why someone would even waste there time to make such comments on the showcase title for this week. like i said all summer there have been showcase titles such as : bullying : tribute to Micheal Jackson n so much more… this week its an inspirational showcase so they gave the title God’s Talents Whats The Problem ???? every Fri that place is FULL of friends and familys supporting the talented future generations

    • aasde says:

Sorry, But I am Bermudian. The fact that you assume I am not Bermudian because I do not follow your path worries me. Just attending a church does not ‘religious’ one make. If you really must know I have taken and even attended seminary school and studied the Bible, Torah and Koran and other “religious” texts.

May statements still stands the same title could have been reworded to not have a religious undertone. You will also notice I am not saying you should believe what I believe like you are badgering me with. I merely state another form could have been chosen and not labeled with religious over tunes.

I will not get into a debate regarding religion, as it is not necessary. I accept that your beliefs are not the same as mine. But it is wrong for you to ‘push’ your beliefs on others PERIOD.
