Troika Presents Musical ‘Once On This Island’

On August 23rd to 25th, 2012 at The Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts, TROIKA Bermuda will be presenting Work In Progress #4; their first musical production entitled ‘Once On This Island’.

A spokesperson said, “Directed by Steve Huntsman from Las Vegas and Choreographed by Bermuda’s own Eric Bean Jr, this highly original theatrical Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale “The Little Mermaid” garnered eight Tony nominations for its Broadway run, including Best Musical, Book and Score.

“In almost non-stop song and dance, the show tells the Story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island.

“When Daniel is returned to his people, the fantastical Gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest to test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death.

“Our production will feature stunning, colorful costumes and scenery, a full band, innovative choreography, and all the heart & soul it takes to present such a deeply moving story. The musical will be performed by some of Bermuda’s finest youth talent.”

Tickets for the production start at $25 for students, $30 general and $50+ for donors. TROIKA will also be offering family pack discounts for the Friday evening performance only. Tickets are available for sale via www.ptix.bm or in person via the Liberty Theatre Box Office.
