Millionaire Accused Of Raping Bermuda Woman

September 14, 2012

31-year-old British national Gregory Charles Cox has been accused of raping a 21-year-old Bermudian woman on Bondi Beach in Australia, and attempts to keep his identity secret have failed.

PerthNow reports that: “A millionaire British entrepreneur accused of raping a woman on Bondi Beach has fought to keep his identity secret because his privileged background meant he would be subject to “undue embarrassment”.

“A magistrate was yesterday told the allegations had already caused Gregory Charles Cox, 31, the CEO and founder of the UK-based Quintessential Finance Group, ‘significant inconvenience’ and the case could cause further ‘unwarranted hardship’ if he was sent to trial.

“He was charged in January with raping a 21-year-old Bermuda woman he had just met at Bondi’s The Bucket List bar. Cox claims the sex was consensual.”

The offence carries a maximum penalty of 14 years in jail.

I hope this young lady receives all the necessary support that she needs, sometimes people with money can wield certain power and persuasion in their direction.. This is a traumatic experience to be taken advantage of in any event.. I hope she can remain strong in spite of this situation and hopefully the wheels of justice will turn to the truth.

In response to your article, wrongly accused is also a scenario, if the girl agreed to sex then cried wolf claiming to be raped that is very wrong,if that was me I now would be worried if I was to receive a fair trial, newspapers report Gregg was arrested 4 days later and that there are ‘inconsistencies’ in versions of events his alleged victim had given to the police, just imagine what the guy is going through if the allegation is a total lie.

  2. Pastor Syl Hayward says:

I note the sentence for rape in Australia is 14 years. What is ours?

    • Come Correct says:

What’s the penalty for raping an island nation?

      • Ole says:

Ask the UBP – they made it an art form…

        • citi zen says:

This means the plp should have changed it

        • Vulpes says:

Ole, you are spouting pseudo history – thirty years of UBP Government made Bermuda and Bermudians amongst the richest on earth. As opposed to fourteen years of PLP cronyism which is making all but a small elite poor.

By the way, I wish the young lady, like our country, a speedy recovert.

        • R you serious!!! says:

And the PLP has had 14years to change it!

And I’m originally a PLP voter! When would we stop blamong yester – year. Would another 100 years in power help???

        • ole ole ole says:

Wow, if you have the ballz to make a statement like that about the UBP then how can you possibly not include the PLP in that staement! consider the economy, crime, education, empolyement, health, public transportation, national debt and so on 14 years ago compared to today. Name one thing that the PLP has done for this country other than rename holidays, airports and buildings that was good for Bermuda. Any by Bermuda I mean all of us…not the slect few PLP Elite or DB’s friends and family list!!!

          • ole ole ole says:

Sorry …I cant believe this idiot PLP dreamer made me loose focus for a second. I wish this young lady the best! I can’t imagine what she is going thru…but may she get the help and support she needs to get thru this!

    • Free says:

Probably a year or two. 6 months if you behave in prison.

      • Really REAL says:

Less than that if you do it to a child….people are let off for that here….you know, if a 20 year old footballer does something like this to a 12 year old girl…. wrist slap!

Bermuda is so much more of a joke.

She may have cried rape in the hopes of getting some of his $$$!!! Certainly won’t be the first time that “trick” has been tried!!!

  8. ECS says:

My thing is, if you met at a bar! how did you arive at the beach? did he hit you over the head and drag you there? or did you willingly go? :/

Also who was she with!? why did they leave her?

  9. sick an tired says:

my experience…..when a woman goes along with you (willinly) there is a (high) percent chance she has already made up (her) mind to go all the way with you…as consenting adults, but money changes the game !

    • lolabunny says:

I’m sorry is this 1950? How does agreeing to go somewhere with someone mean that you’re consenting to sex? You have to be dragged off somewhere to be raped? If she says NO then she means NO. I pray none of you people have female relatives who suffer from interacting with males with similar ‘thoughts’
