Photos: Two Waterspouts Seen Forming Today

[Updated] Thaddeus Murdoch captured the photo below of a waterspout forming in the Warwick area at approximately 7.20am this morning [Sept 18], with the Rockaway Ferry seen in the foreground. The waterspout did not reach the ground or water, as it dissipated about five minutes later.

Update: This photo posted by Gerri Crockwell-Sequeros shows a waterspout touching down at 7:30am this morning off Devonshire Bay.

    Is’nt it only called a water spout if it touches and sucks up the water? Otherwise it should be called a funnel cloud. IMO. I could be wrong.

    I was waiting for the sunrise at Devonshire Bay this morning, watching a pink tinted rain storm traveling from the east, when a water-spout touched down from the clouds to the horizon. I posted a photo of the water-spout on your Face-book page this morning.
