Videos: Vanessa James & Ciprès Finish 4th
Bermudian Vanessa James and her partner Morgan Ciprès — who skate for France — finished 4th in the recent Skate America competition held in in Washington state. It was the first of six events in the 2012–13 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a series of senior-level invitational competitions.
Ms James lived in Bermuda as a child and attended Mount Saint Agnes Academy. She is the daughter of Bermudian Kevin James, and the granddaughter of Carlton and Ethlyn James.
The history making skater is the first black woman to win the British National Championships, and along with her old partner Yannick, became the first black couple to ever compete in Olympic pairs skating at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Bermuda is behind you, as you make us all extremely proud.
Bermuda is behind her? Yeah right…only when she’s on the world stage and doing well do we claim her as our own daughter of the soil and make her Bermudian roots known. Where were we when she was starting out and couldn’t get the support of her own country having to turn to another. She should be representing Bermuda not France!
