Photos: First Night Of The 2012 Rugby Classic

November 11, 2012

The World Rugby Classic kicked off last night [Nov 10] with no shortage of entertainment both on and off the field. The always popular annual event attracted a massive crowd, with many dressed for the occasion in a wide variety of attire ranging from human crayons, superheroes, Santa Claus, cowboys, skeletons, plus a variety of suspicious looking “women”.

While the unofficial costume show took place off the field, rugby players took to the field to start the week’s play. The defending champions Argentina defeated France 21 – 5 in the first game, while South Africa defeated the United States 43-10 in the second game.

The games continue on Monday, with the Canada vs. Classic Lions at 7.15pm, and Australia vs. Italy at 8.30pm. You can view all our photo galleries and coverage of the Rugby Classic by clicking here.

  1. UK Dependent Territory Citizen says:

these pictures speak a thousand words

and to think that as a qualified professional in IB i still have to justify my place in Bermuda and ask these people to accept me, in my own Island.

i guess they will say they are not invited to one of the Islands fields to fly kites or free at easter.

    • judge dread (r) says:

hahahaha! you are quite the joker.
what point is it that you are trying to make?
what? expats looking like a bunch of party animals?
who cares? are they causing any trouble? NOPE
Go to a field and fly a kite for free? whats the price of the bullets?

    • JAWS says:

It was a great night, this is how Bermuda should be 24/7. No fights and everyone was having a great time. How’s my drinking Bermuda? : P

      Damn straight…………….

      Stop being such a “Be-arch”……………

    • JALD says:

      What a ridiculous comment.
I’m Bermudian and went to the Classic and saw LOTS of my BERMUDIAN friends there!
Who cares if the expats go to and enjoy the Classic as well?? It’s a fun event for ALL.

Get over it. Your words have no point to them.

  2. really?! says:

    @ Dependent…

I’m not even sure I understand your asinine comment above. The Rugby Classic is looked forward to by 1000’s of Bermudians, not just ex pats. I am a qualified Bermudian in IB as well, as are all of my friends, and we look forward to it every year. It really is a fun event that brings together all of Bermuda and 100’s of very welcomed and much needed visitors.
If you have to seek justification from colleagues/managers at your place of work, maybe you should reevaluate your attitude and think twice before making such ridiculous comments, as I can easily see why you have a hard time being accepted.

  3. Truth is killin' me... says:

    Get a life…PUNK!

  4. sugra says:

    Don’t feed the trolls.

  5. Vote OBA says:

    @ Vote Dependent ……….

You were trying to initiate an US and THEM debate

Most likely you are one of these PLP bloggers who have to find every chance to tear down things that you lot dont organise, there was no fighting, stabbings or shootings at the Rugby, unlike your local football games

I hope the OBA wins so that you trolls all get packing!!

    VOTE OBA!!

  6. Yes I says:

    Trolls?

And I thought we were adults. PLP, OBA, Independent…….. Who cares?! Enjoy the Rugby classic and leave the negative and poisonous rants out of this. We complain that our children have too much access to the World Wide Web where they can be “corrupted” but clearly they don’t have to go to far for that.

Role Models? Lets try a new attitude first.
