CADA’s ‘Let Us Drive’ Service Available Tonight
CADA’s free ‘Let Us Drive service’ will be available tonight [Dec 31] to provide support for those who will be out drinking.
The service will be available tonight from 3:15am to 3:45am from outside of the LOM building on Reid Street and recognizing that more people will be out, there will be additional vouchers available.
CADA Chairman, Mr. Anthony Santucci said, “There have been several collisions and one fatality on our roads so far this Holiday season. We want to prevent any more.
“We also want to extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Malik Weeks who tragically died on our roads a few days ago. Mr. Weeks was the 9th road fatality this year.
“We do not know the cause of this particular tragedy, but we do know that a large number of the deaths which occur on Bermuda’s roads involve alcohol or drugs.
“Our role at CADA is to encourage responsible alcohol behavior and our message today is simple, before you go out, put a plan in place as to how you will get home. Remember ABCD – Always use Bus, Cab or Designated Driver. Together we must remain focused, committed and continue to take responsibility to eliminate drinking and driving.
“To provide support for those who will be out drinking, CADA’s free, lifesaving, Let Us Drive service will be available tonight, thanks to our sponsors, Bacardi Limited, Burrows Lightbourn, Goslings, Fairmont Hotels and the City of Hamilton.
“This free service will be available tonight from 3:15am to 3:45am from outside of the LOM building on Reid Street and recognizing that more people will be out there will be additional vouchers available.
“We would also like to remind parents and adults that alcohol is very dangerous for young people, those who consume alcohol before the age of 15 are 4 times more likely to become addicted than those who wait until age 21, therefore — Talk with young people about why alcohol is harmful for them, model responsible alcohol behavior in front of them, and lock up your alcohol so it is not easily accessible to them. Let’s keep our young people safe.

hopefully Shawn Crockwell makes the buses run to 3am..if we want to be serious about preventing drink driving related deaths then we have to offer safe and cheap alternatives…3 free taxis to serve the hundreds of revellers is in all fairness quite pathetic.
In Sheffield, UK they have a scheme which allows you to get a taxi for free but must leave your Student ID with the driver and get it back once you pay the next day or so.
