U.S. Escapee Bragged About Bermuda Move

December 20, 2012

Two convicted bank robbers have escaped from an Illinois prison, and one of them reportedly bragged about a plan he had to move to Bermuda.

The escapees are Kenneth Conley, 38,  who was facing 20 years, and Jose Banks, 37, who was facing an 80-year sentence. Conley was the one who bragged about moving to Bermuda. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to their capture.

CBS News reports that: “Chicago’s federal lock-up is an imposing high-rise that has defied escape for almost three decades. But somehow, two cellmates enlarged a six-inch wide window slit, removed its bars and, in the predawn darkness, lowered themselves at least 15 floors to freedom, using knotted bed sheets to repel down the building’s facade. A surveillance camera caught the pair getting into a downtown Chicago cab around 2:41 Tuesday morning.”

I hope he is not planning to take one of those 2000 jobs planned for us. But will he get a work permit, with no term limits?

  7. Time Passages says:

Perhaps he’d heard that American’s of dubious character can come here and run the place like a gangster, take Bermudians for millions, and bugger off back home after a few years.

  8. Dawn de Toilet says:

No place to hide here as the police eventually find you….so what is the point…

  9. Tired of the bull says:

He must have found out his boy Shawn is the new tourism minister and knew he would help him out.

  10. KarmaGotEm says:

Shawn can’t be of too much help, as he needs to apply for a waiver to go to America like all the other convicted drug criminals. And if he doesn’t than every Bermudian who fits in that category, especially the ones who can’t travel for possessing as little as a weed seed, need to stomp on Parliament, the minute they reconvene.

  11. Bermudian Mom says:

I heard that Shawn can travel freely to the US as a result of assisting a US Senator or the like. It would be nice if Bernews would look into and confirm or disprove.
