This appointment coincides with the launch of The Centre’s new four-year strategic plan. The plan sees The Centre’s retaining its mission to promote and advocate for an effective and sustainable charitable or Third Sector by providing training and education, fostering collaboration and supporting volunteerism, and allows for a renewed focus on strengthening Bermuda’s nonprofit community.

“I am honoured and excited to be chosen as the new Executive Director of The Centre on Philanthropy,” says Ms Williams. “I look forward to working with our very able Board and staff to implement the new strategic plan. Our role as a resource and advocate for the charitable sector is particularly important in tough economic times. We will continue to do all we can to make sure Bermuda’s charities are equipped with everything they need to support our community.”

Ms Williams has served in various positions during her professional career including Police Officer, 18 years with the Bermuda Hospitals Board, the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce and eight years as a Hotline Volunteer for the Women’s Resource Centre. She also has served on several Boards including the Bermuda Family Council, The Centre on Philanthropy, The Bermuda Women’s Council and the Cummings Zuill Scholarship Award.

The Centre on Philanthropy was created by a group of committed volunteers in 1991 to encourage an attitude of giving, promote volunteerism and document charitable behaviours in Bermuda. It offers a variety of programmes that provide nonprofits, individuals and companies with the tools they need to carry out charitable work in Bermuda. Danielle Riviere, The Centre’s Programme Manager, continues as interim Executive Director until the end of March.
