The City of Hamilton today [Jan 7] advised that the Church Street and Par-la-Ville Road intersection will remain closed until Thursday morning as utility trenching take place in this area.

A statement said: “Traffic traveling into Hamilton from the west will not be able to access Church St to the east via Bermudiana Road but Par-La-Ville Road to the north will be accessible. The Par-la-Ville Road southbound lane will be closed from the Serpentine Road roundabout.”

“Traffic travelling from the east along East Broadway and Middle Road will be able to access Par-La-Ville car park from Church St. via Queen St. only. Par-la-Ville Road southbound is accessible from Church Street through Queen Street. The City apologizes for any inconvenience this road closure may cause.”

What I was seeing today was the bus going over Parliament street to Victoria then onto the terminal. So the only stop in Front Street is at the southern end of King Street? Why cant the bus use Queen St. thus allowing passengers to disembark on Front Street?

Why can’t the work be done weekends and nights not to disrupt the people that have to work in the city ( not to mention the businesses that are losing customers)

Amazing how many drivers exiting Wesley Street ignored the detour signs blocking off the right hand lane, only to be surprised when the road was blocked – even saw one taxi pull a u-turn. Do they think that these signs don’t apply to them and by some miracle their vehicles would be lifted over the roadworks?

I welcome all these infrastructure upgrades to the city that have been long overdue, but what i would like to know is that with all these well laid plans we still don”t have a hotel in the city, nothing in the pipeline to show one is nor the corporation doing anything to that end.

I pray that when and if (i highly doubt thought) a hotelier decides to enter into a contract with the corporation/government that it all goes smoothly and that the hotel represents Bermuda and her people and that we can shine like the Tourism destination we once were.
