Tokio Re Sponsors Children’s Cricket Program

February 28, 2013

The Bermuda Cricket Board announced that Tokio Millennium Re Ltd. is sponsoring the free Pee Wee ‘Have-a-go’ cricket program for children ages 5 7. The program takes place at Berkeley Institute Gym every Saturday in March, starting on March 2 and finishing on March 30, 2013.

The sessions will run as follows:

  • 5 Year Olds – 2.00 – 3.00pm
  • 6-7 Year Olds – 3.15 – 4.15pm

During the session, the players will be introduced to the basics of cricket with the main aim of having fun. Utilising the “Have-a-go” Cricket equipment, coaches will work with the players on learning the basics skills of catching, bowling and batting with the aim of playing a game in the last session. On the last day parents and their children will participate in a parent/child game. This will be used to further strengthen the relationship between parent and child through cricket.

President of the BCB, Lloyd Fray stated, “On behalf of the BCB I thank the continued support of Tokio Millennium Re Ltd. who share our strong focus of bettering the lives of Bermudas youth through sports in a safe and fun environment. This sponsorship is extremely important because it allows us to offer the Pee Wee Program FREE of charge making it accessible to all.

“Tokio Millennium Re Ltd. also support the BCB 8&Under Cricket League which runs April through June which takes the 6 & 7 year olds who have graduated from the Pee Wee Cricket Program. The emphasis of “Have-a-go” Cricket is on participation and enjoyment and we encourage all our young Bermudians to register to take part.
