Teachers Win Rugby Sevens Championship

rugby130323Teachers Rugby Football Club are the 2013 Bermuda Rugby Football Union Sevens Champions following action at the Police Field this weekend. Andre Landy, was voted the MVP of the tournament with most tries and conversions.

The final match pitted the Teachers against Renegades, with the Teachers emerging as the champions 26 -10. Teachers got 3 tries and 3 conversion from speedster Landy, Peter Otin also added a try and Aldo Cambell kicked a conversion. Greg Garside scored 2 tries and kicked 2 conversions for the Renegades.

In earlier action the Teachers defeated the Police 28 – 12. Landy scored 3 tries and kicked 3 conversions, Otin also added a try and Landy kicked a conversion. Johnny Sykes scored 2 tries for the Police, while Darryn Gulliesppi kicked 1 conversion.

The Mariners edged the Renegades 21 – 19, the Mariners got a try and 2 conversions from Tony Ward, a try and a conversion from Steven Husbands, while Jeremiah Monk added a try. Ndavyah Williams scored 2 tries for the Renegades, he also added 2 conversions, Paul Dodson scored a try and Greg Garside added a conversion.

The match between the Teachers and Mariners ended with Teachers winning 21 – 5. Greg Fraser scored atTry and kicked a conversion, while Landy scored a try and kicked 2 conversions, Thomas Greenslade also added a try. Steven Husbands scored the lonetTry for the Mariners.
