Slideshow: Bermuda’s Carifta Games Athletes

Bermuda’s young athletes have been in fine form during the 2013 Carifta Games, winning a total of 10 medals, setting new records and achieving a number of other distinctions including personal best times.

The swimming portion of the Carifta Games is being held in Jamaica, while the track and field segment was held in the Bahamas. The track and field concluded last night [Apr 1], while the swimming portion continues today.

Swimmers Jesse Washington and Madelyn Moore have combined to win a total of 5 medals thus far, including two gold medals won in record setting style. Jesse has a gold and a bronze, while Madelyn has a gold, silver and bronze.

Bermuda’s track and field athletes also won five medals, with Kyrah Scraders claiming a gold in the 800m and a silver in the 1500m, Sakari Famous taking a silver in the high jump, Zakiyyah Showers winning bronze in the 3000m and Juma Mouchette winning bronze in the 5000m.

Other Bermuda athletes have contributed stellar performances, with Bermuda achieving a number of 4th and 5th places finishes, as well as numerous athletes setting personal best times during the competition.

    Was that a govt minister I saw, I thought the OBA said that they wouldn’t take such trips……

      oh sit down, if you wanna complain, write to RG and ask them why they couldn’t plaster Carifta sucesses on their front page instead of a giant 5X8 photo of a paddle board enthusiast (sorry Mr. Paddle Boarder but RG are jus plain wrong)….sorry BERNEWS you’ll probably have to edit this one!

So what if a Govt minister was there, what’s the big deal, I’m sure other countries had their ministers represented. If you have nothing to positive to add, STFU
