Tourism Ads Being Shown On Local TV For April

April 5, 2013

In celebration of Hospitality Month, the Bermuda Tourism Board said they are helping residents get a glimpse of the island from the same perspective of those who visit.

Throughout the month of April the Board will showcase the North American ‘So Much More’ TV campaign on local television stations, allowing the people of Bermuda to better understand how the island is promoted overseas.

Board Chairman David Dodwell said, “The idea behind ‘So Much More’ ultimately came from the people of Bermuda and the quintessential experience that defines this island.

” We believe it is very important for Bermudians to see how their Island is being branded in the North America marketplace, so we have a greater awareness of the guests’ expectations upon arrival.”

The ad campaign, under the slogan ‘Bermuda So Much More’, is a reflection of the direction laid out by the recently introduced National Tourism Master Plan.

The campaign features a series of :15 and :30 second TV vignettes highlighting key segments identified in the Master Plan, including adventure sports, golf, weddings, shopping and entertainment.

Mr. Dodwell went on to state, “The campaign showcases many aspects of our island culture and is intended to communicate in a fresh and exciting way that Bermuda offers not only a breath-taking island with natural beauty, but also a nearby, culturally infused destination with a variety of things to see, do and enjoy in all seasons.”

The ads are now running on ZBM Channel 9 and VSB Channel 11 during the evening news casts.

  1. Truth says:

This is a waste of tax-payer funds. Those dollars could be used to promote the island in areas which will provide us with tourists and their much-needed revenue.

Everyone knows that TV time in Bermuda is expensive – so why waste it on the local market? I just don’t understand the logic.

    Da Truth

    • ha! says:

I agree 100%, it is wasted showing it to Bermuda get it out to foreign markets.

No logic in this one at all! Maybe there should have been a press release before hand stating the Ad’s would be aired and at what time so we could see them and then that’s it, even my 7 year old said why are they showing this to us we live here?

  2. Broader viewing says:

It’s a shame that the Tourism Board has elected to exclude Fresh TV 3 and other local channels from carrying the North American “So Much More” ad campaign – not all Bermudians watch the the local news on 9 or 11….

  3. I'm just sayin... says:

but pray tell where else are they being shown?

  4. Thief says:

This is an excellent initiative. If anything it should be every month and all the time. We need to be aware of our responsibilities and how we are portrayed by the DOT.

  5. SoMuchMore says:

this is good and not so good… good that we the people who live here get to see what the world sees and not so good cause the funds going in to this could be put forth in other areas to promote the island.

anyway, you can’t please everyone but either way i am happy.

  6. Proud to be Bermudian says:

I think the videos are excellent! Certainly showing the best of what Bermuda has to offer and even encouraging me to induldge in a staycation! Can we see the brightside of things people and try to keep the negativity out of it for once?
