Cruise Line Cancels Next 6 Sailings Due To Fire

May 29, 2013

The Grandeur of the Seas has cancelled its next six sailings following Monday’s fire, which will impact three of its scheduled trips to Bermuda.

A Royal Caribbean spokesperson said, “Unfortunately, due to the time needed to repair the damage caused by the fire, it is necessary to cancel Grandeur of the Seas’ next six sailings. The ship is expected to return to service with the July 12 sailing. Grandeur of the Seas’ cancelled sailings include: May 31, June 7, June 14, June 21, June 28, and July 5.”

According to the 2013 Cruise Schedule, the Grandeur of the Seas is scheduled to make 15 stops on the island this year, and it appears the next three scheduled Bermuda cruises will be impacted, as they were due to arrive on June 2nd, June 16, and June 30th.

Royal Caribbean International will provide guests booked on a cancelled sailing with a full refund which will be processed back to the original form of payment. Guests who would like apply their refund towards a reservation on a future sailing should do so prior to June 14. These guests should contact their travel agent, or they may contact Royal Caribbean at 1-888-824-0012 before June 14.

Royal Caribbean International will also provide these guests with a future cruise certificate for 25% of the cruise fare paid. This certificate may be used for a future cruise on Royal Caribbean International.

The 2,200+ passengers were flown from the Bahamas to Baltimore on Tuesday after their cruise was abruptly ended by the fire aboard the ship.

Well I guess the bright side is that the pier can be finished quicker?

My family and I were scheduled for the Departure out of Baltimore on 14 June which has been cancelled. The least Royal Carribean should do is rebook us (5) adudlts, on a similar cruise for the same time frame. We have all taken off work and cannot slip the date due to work schedules. We have all cruised before with Royal Carribean on the Oasis two years ago, and were looking forward to cruise to Bermuda out of Baltimore on 14 June. They have had our money for three months and should offer some consideration under the circumstances.
