Closing Date For Walkway Of Fame Nominations

June 4, 2013

The City of Hamilton issued a reminder that the deadline for members of the public to submit names for the Walkway of Fame is Friday [June 7] at 5 p.m.

Mayor Graeme Outerbridge said, “The Walkway of Fame will stretch the length of Court Street from Front Street through to Angle Street. We want to honor those who have made contributions to Bermuda and may not have been recognised.

“The person nominated could have lived, worked and contributed to the development of their community anywhere in Bermuda. The criterion is: an individual, groups or associations who have positively impacted the lives of people in Bermuda through their professional or volunteer work and must have lived in Bermuda.”

Mayor Outerbridge added, “The reason the Walkway of Fame will be located along Court Street is to encourage people who historically may not travel through Court Street to do so. We want residents and visitors alike to experience the entire city.

Nomination forms can be found on the City of Hamilton website or can be collected from the City’s administration offices in City Hall.

The city will host an in-person nomination opportunity at the Emmanuel Baptist Church Hall on Wednesday [June 5] from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. All submissions will be treated with the strictest confidence.

“Immediately after the deadline, all the nominations that have been received will be forwarded to the Selection Committee who will determine the honorees,” Mayor Outerbridge concluded.
