Collision: Man Arrested For DUI, Female Injured

Following a collision involving an auxiliary cycle and a car in Devonshire last night, a 17-year-old female is listed in stable condition at KEMH, and a 23-year-old Warwick man has been arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

Around 11:30pm on Tuesday [June 25] police and first responders attended a collision at the junction of Tee Street and South Road in Devonshire.

A police spokesperson said, “It appears that an auxiliary cycle was being ridden along South Road and a car was being driven along Tee Street when the vehicles collided at the junction.

“The auxiliary cycle rider, a 17 year old Paget woman, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check the victim was in stable condition on a general ward.

“The car driver, a 23 year old Warwick man, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Both vehicles were damaged. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and any witnesses are encouraged to contact PC Anthony Smith on 295-0011.”

    Very bad intersection – many, many accidents occur there. We need a light or a 3 way stop.
