Photos/Video: Visiting Motorcycle Cruising Club

June 10, 2013

The roar of motorcycle engines crossed the island today [June 10] as a group of Harley Davidsons and other supersized motorcycles were joined by members of the Bermuda Longriders on a ride across the island.

The group is part of the ETA Motorcycle Cruising Club, which offers cruises all through the Caribbean for motorcycle enthusiasts, and have been visiting Bermuda for a number of years.

The group arrived in Bermuda aboard the Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas for a two day visit. Today saw the convoy of motorcycles head to the east end after a visit to Gibbs Hill Lighthouse. Two visitors on a regular Bermuda rental bike joined the convoy, and were all smiles as they motored along.

After meeting dignitaries in the Town Square, the group headed to Gombeys Restaurant at Clearwater Beach for a prepared lunch and to spend time socializing. At approximately 3.45pm, the group strapped on their helmets for the ride back to the ship in Dockyard.

On Tuesday, the bikes will take off once again and head to City Hall in Hamilton, where they are due to meet officials from the corporation then spend a few hours shopping in the city. The bikes will be parked at City Hall for those interested in having a closer look and are expected to arrive between 10.00am and 11.00am.

  1. hey guys thanks for some great photos, nice bikes, but the photo of the police escort !is that the new uniform for the cycle squad, or just a civilian using a police bike??looks a bit shaby to me..

      as`far as I understand,the cream Honda WAS a former Bermuda Police Bike,it is TCD allowed for Special occasions such as these runs.

    stewie before you make coments find out the facts first

    Looks like an official police bike to me!

  4. Winnie Dread says:

    Did anyone notice there are no emergency (blue or Red)lights on this cycle? This is a former BPS cycle now in civilian hands, which has a special permit to operate on the roads on occasions like these. whats the big deal the man is just enjoying his ride and showing our visitors around. Btw that bike looks good, wish I had one.

  5. GERARDO DESIO says:

    Thanks Winnie Dread, as I said in my other reply, get the facts before coments are made. The cream color bike was a Police bike, when Police replaced old cycle squad bikes, this one was bourght by a private citezen, the bike is stripped of all emergency equipment before the sale, he restored it and has TCD approval with a day permit and insurance to ride it on Bermuda roads for special events, ie; Public Holidays, Parades etc;
