bmds-alls-well-ends-wellOriginally cast in April 2013, the Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society’s rendition of Shakespeare’s All’s Well That Ends Well is set to hit the stage at the Daylesford Theatre later this week.

Adapted and directed for the Daylesford stage by Barbara Jones, All’s Well That Ends Well is a Shakespearean comedy that follows the adventures of the young hero Bertram as he finds himself a ward of the Queen of France after becoming the Count of Rossillion following his father’s untimely death.

Followed to the Queen’s court by the beautiful heroine Helena, the daughter of a prominent physician, Bertram finds himself in a unique situation after the young lady cures an illness long suffered by the Queen, earning herself the right to marry the newly appointed Count as a result.

Horrified at the prospect of a forced marriage, Bertram sets impossible conditions upon Helena, telling her that he will be her husband in name only unless she fulfills them. Even as the reluctant husband flees Florence in order to fight in the Tuscan Wars, his new wife enlists the help of an array of colourful characters in meeting and exceeding his conditions, leading to a humourous and romantic storyline that is interspersed with tales of war and political intrigue.

Tickets to see this unique adaptation of All’s Well That Ends Well are available at the Daylesford Theatre box office for $25; bookings can be made over the phone at 292-0848, or via the BMDS website.

Showings are on July 19, July 20, and through the week of July 23-27, 2013, beginning each night at 8 PM at the Daylesford Theatre.
