Jesse Washington Wins Silver Medal In Canada

Jesse WashingtonBermudian swimmer Jesse Washington produced a new personal best of 54.56 to win the silver medal in the 100m freestyle at the Canadian Age Group Championships in Montreal.

National Coach, Ben Smith said, “Jesse Washington is capping off his swim season in fine style at the Canadian Age Group Championships here in Montreal, Canada.

“Drawing over 900 swimmers from Canada and other countries, this meet attracts some of the finest age group swimmers to be found.”

Smith continued, “In the 100 freestyle for 14 year old boys, Jesse qualified for the final in first place. Last night, he produced a new personal best of 54.56 to take the silver medal, as his chief opponent for the gold medal was just 7/100’ths of a second faster.”

In closing Smith said, “I also want to report that Emma Harvey also made finals in the 50 back and finished in 7th place in a time of 34.24.”

Action continues today [July 26] as Washington, along with Madelyn Moore, will be competing in the 50 freestyle.
