Joshua Greenslade Selected For All-Star Team

July 10, 2013

This July, the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association is sending a team of seven sailors — including Bermudian Joshua Greenslade — to the UK to compete against the British University Sailing Association team.

Sailors will compete in the course of five official matches over a three-week-long sailing tour. St. Mary’s College of Maryland senior Joshua Greenslade, and recent graduate Mayumi Roller, are among the all-star team of seven representing the U.S.

In addition to St. Mary’s College, sailors on the team hail from Yale, Georgetown University, College of Charleston, and Brown University.

This will be the 28th BUSA/ICSA British-American Tour since the challenge started 54 years ago. The tour, running from July 10 through July 24, will be held at venues across the UK in a variety of classes.

Mr Greenslade, who will finish his last semester at St. Mary’s College next spring, recently skippered for the St. Mary’s College sailing team that took second place at the ICSA/ APS Team Race National Championship this past May.

Roller’s sailing-career highlights include competing for Team USA in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Roller is a native of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“It’s going to be a great experience sailing against some of the world’s best sailors,” said Greenslade as he looked forward to the competition. “I hope to learn a lot and use that for the rest of my sailing career.”
