Man Charged: Stealing $70,000 From Seniors

July 18, 2013

Xavier Trace Douglas was charged in Magistrates Court this morning [July 18] with stealing a credit balance of $70,000 from the bank account of a senior couple.

The charge alleged that this had occurred in September 2012. He also faced a second charge of abusing the seniors. Because the first charge is indictable, he must be tried in Supreme Court and he was not required to enter a plea.

Senior Magistrate Archie Warner granted him $5,000, required a surety, and ordered the 51-year-old to have no contact with the complainants. He will re-appear for mention later this month.
