Photos: Bascome/Lowe Charity Football Classic

The men of Alpha Phi Alpha and Kappa Alpha Psi hosted their third annual Bascome/Lowe Charity Football Classic recently at the National Sports Centre.

The Classic is named in honor of two people who dedicated their lives to service, [Kappa] the late Minister Nelson Bascome and [Alpha] the late Rev. Dr. Wilbur Lowe.

“The game was played under perfect conditions with both teams fielding very strong teams with men ranging in age of 25 to 50″, a spokesperson said.

“Most of the men have established themselves as positive role models in the community however on the day they were determined to leave it all on the field and take the trophy home for their respective organizations.

“After both teams played hard and strong, at the end of regulation the game ended in a draw 0-0. The night culminated when the men of both organizations raised $5000 to give away to charity”.

The following organizations provided charitable donations: ASW Law Firm $1500, Kappa Alpha Psi $1000, Alpha Phi Alpha $500, Digicel $1000, Funtyme Entertainment $500 and Mussenden Subair Law Firm $500.

Each of these organizations were given a check for $500 to help with their operational expenses: Bermuda Basketball Association Youth Development, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Purvis Primary, Cedarbridge Academy Book Club, Paget Titans, Bermuda Sloop Foundation, Bermuda Brazilian Football School, The Heart Project, The Continental Society and Purvis School PTSA.
