Police Confirm Death Of 76-Year-Old Visitor

The police have confirmed the death of 76 year old U.S. national Maurice Comtois, who died while snorkeling at Snorkel Park in Dockyard on Saturday [July 6]. The police said there were no suspicious circumstances reported.

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 76 year old U.S. national Maurice Comtois.

“Around 1:30pm on Saturday, July 6th police and first responders attended a reported medical emergency at Snorkel Park in Dockyard. It appears that Mr. Comtois was snorkeling in the area when he became unresponsive.

“The American visitor was given CPR at the scene and transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he was later pronounced dead by an on call doctor.

“There were no suspicious circumstances reported; however an autopsy is anticipated in due course. The Bermuda Police Service extends condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Comtois.”

    This is not the first time someone has lost their life in Snorkel Park,
    seems to me Lifeguards should be in place at all times during the summer months..
    one death or serious injury is always one too many…
    Bermuda does not need this…we have enough problems already!
