TCI Media: Misick Said To Have Bermuda Info

July 31, 2013

michael-misickAccording to a report from the TCI Journal, former Turks & Caicos Premier Michael Misick is said “to have information on crimes dealing with United States citizens and senior politicians in Jamaica, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.”

In what appears to be an editorial from the staff of the TCI Journal, they state: “We are being told that Michael Misick is in plea bargain negotiations with the Americans as well as the SIPT.

“If he has any hopes to not spend the rest of his life in prison, now is the moment he has the most leverage,” the report said.

“Along with crimes that deal with United States citizens and corporations, and the Turks and Caicos Islands, Michael is said to have information on crimes dealing with United States citizens and senior politicians in Jamaica, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.”

Following allegations of widespread corruption in 2009, the UK imposed direct rule on the Turks and Caicos Islands and power was transferred to the UK-appointed Governor.

A number of high ranking people were arrested, and Mr Misick initially avoided arrest by fleeing the jurisdiction, however he was later arrested at an aiport in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Awesome, come on Misick, spill the beams to save your sorry thieving ass….

  2. Nuffin but da Truth says:

Bermuda Weather Service is forecasting a lot of $h!t will be flying in the Bermuda Area in the near future and warned residents not to be alarmed if they see people attempting to flee the Island in a vain attempt to escape justice for corruption!

    • Sandgrownan says:

No where to run, they’ll catch up with them anywhere they go. Better to ‘fess up and hope for leniency…..

      • Nuffin but da Truth says:

yup,and then try to do a deal and give details about others involved!

        gotta love the old saying
        What goes round…

        • junique says:

You will never see this from Mike, tell the Journal keep dreemin. This is only rubbish.

          • Sandy Bottom says:

I see you know “Mike” pretty well. You didn’t used to be a well-known politician in Bermuda, did you?

  3. Ride says:

Very interesting if his claims hold true for Bermuda senior politicians of the day. Should they hold true then if the actions are illegal in Turks & Caicos but only unethical in Bermuda (we’ve seen this unethical but not illegal game play out under the PLP administration he is referring to) then the Bermuda people will not get much joy. I doubt any of the politicians that he would refer to (if his claims are true) would find themselves extradited to Turks & Caicos to stand trial.

In any case, inquiry minds would love to know.

PS: Does anyone else find it amusing that he appears to be standing in front of a terrible photo backdrop of a bookcase for this picture? Every time I see this file-photo I giggle a bit at this. Surely they could have found an actual bookcase for the backdrop. It looks so amateurish.

    • Sandgrownan says:

Did you ever see the letter he wrote from prison in Brazil. It looked like it was written by a 6th grader, and a poor one at that.

    • junique says:

How can you people in Bermuda be so blinded. You would be happy to see the brits destroy your country in the name of politics? This would never happen in britain, mother of corruption. Taught you would have learned from us but you are so deep up the mother country a** that you cant see the light anymore.

      • Sandy Bottom says:

How would “the Brits” be “destroying” Bermuda? If Misick rats out a Bermuda politician, how do you blame the Uk for that?

  4. Nuffin but da Truth says:

IF he has the goods on people here, they wont be sent over to Turks.more like to the UK.
You have to remember, this guy made the Brits and the USA look pretty stupid…they wont be so forgiving and will want their pound of flesh.

  5. Vote for Me says:

Don’t start ‘licking your chops just yet.’

Misick will have to prove any allegations he may make before anyone else is convicted. On the face of it there may be some public embarassment but not much else since any of his comments must be taken on the basis that he made tehm as part of a plea deal.

    Interesting times to follow.

    • Sandgrownan says:

He won’t need to, just tell the authorities where to look

      • junique says:

When it comes to the black man you don`t need proof? It that what you are saying. This is exactly what they are doing to Mike now. How can you be happy to see the Brits do these things?

  6. PETER G SMITH says:

This is the most ridiculous heap of nonsense I have seen in a long time. Since when the TCI Journel became a trusted source of news and information.

From its very inception The TCI Journal has been a TCI rag bog; that has gone all out to destroy Michael Misick and the PNP administration one only have to look at the amount of articles they have dedicated to discrediting Michael Misick in the past four years. Like the previous stories this story is a slanderous and comes from the enslaved minds of the editors of the Journal. Michael Misick Attorneys in Brazil were contacted after this story broke and they have assured us that there is nothing going on other than an extradition hearing any idea that Michael is negotiating is rubbish.

    • Double Standards says:

Damn you sound like you could be a representative of a local Party…

Guess that little journal tricked the Brits, interpol and the Brazilian authorities.

So exactly how did Misick amass a fortune of $180mn during his time as Premier?

      • junique says:

Where is the $180M? this story is as false as any fairytale, come one people, use you common sense.

        • Deliverance says:

What you talkin? T&C Islanders are British already! Just like we are. Stop doing the “us” and “them” thing. If there’s no $180m and no corruption what’d he RUN AWAY for then?

    • b says:

Discrediting him? He’s a scumbag and corrupt, those aren’t lies or slander. Everyone knows this already.

      • junique says:

Really taught that you people would search for the facts before talking such rubbish, very disappointed in your response. The journal is not reliable. Hope when it happens in your country you will understand.

        • junique says:

Sorry just remember the country is not yours, the Brits run and would forever rule you.

    • Sandgrownan says:

      First name terms eh?

  7. swing voter says:

no honor among thieves… I have no time for the illegal activities of the rich and poor…. ill gained money and material wealth is not impressive when acquired via theft from the people of Bermuda, UBP PLP or otherwise, theft is evil, I pray you never get to fully enjoy the fruit of your evil doings

  8. Hmmmmm says:

TCI Journal has found kindred spirits in Bermuda’s media who have similar missions with respect to some well known people. Amazing how the local media will not report on stories like this:

    1. “Britain’s bribery boom: One in 20 has bribed a public official as corruption rises” – The Independent, 3rd July 2013
    2. Corruption and the FCO: Blue skies, white sands, dark clouds
Special report: Met police call for criminal inquiry into former diplomat’s Cayman Islands rule – The Independent, 26th May 2013

Imagine, the TCI Journal story starts with the words “we are told…”; no source, no corroboration, not even someone briefing by background and that’s enough for Bermuda’s media to carry the story and cause the usual Pavlovian response from the red meat brigade of the OBA.

I’m with John McCain who called Fox News “schizophrenic”. The shoe sure does fit around here. Today’s Editorial asks that we all come together for real during and after Cup Match; while in the same pages carrying this unbelievable and just incredible story from TCI Journal. This is why we don’t believe you. Hiding the whip behind your backs and smiling does not mean you won’t beat us again. We’re clear on that.

  9. Barracuda says:

Wow , so quick to deflect. The only people beating you , are yourselves.

  10. Nuffin but da Truth says:

I bet a few Bermudians have already dirtied their panties!

    • junique says:

Yes while the whites laugh, they are even worse and untouched. Haven’t you all look at the other side of the story yet? You should check for some facts other them the journal.
Learn from others, your time is right around the corner.

  11. Noway says:

    Damnnn This like a movie
