CableVision To Host Gospel Music Concert

August 9, 2013

Bermuda CableVision is hosting a Gospel Music concert to benefit its “Open Hands Loving Hearts” food drive. The family-oriented event is open to all and will take place at the National Stadium, on Sunday, September 1st, starting at 6pm.

Prior to the concert, the public is invited to attend a Health Fair, also at the stadium, that will start at 3pm, with free health screenings, followed by testimonials from Bermuda’s ‘All-Stars of Longevity’.

The 6pm food drive benefit concert will feature a diverse array of talent, including some of Bermuda’s most outstanding gospel artists, as well as special performances by local church choirs, musicians and other groups. There is no monetary admission fee; however those attending are asked to bring at least three non-perishable food items to donate to the food drive.

Rollin Nathan, Bermuda CableVision’s sales manager and key organiser for the event, says, “Over the past few months, our ‘Open Hands Loving Hearts’ food drive has gained tremendous momentum, and more and more people have expressed a desire to get involved. What better way to do so than to come together as a community for this one-of-a-kind concert that celebrates and showcases our local talent and provides an opportunity to help the less fortunate in our community. We’re also grateful to the Bermuda Conference of Seventh Day Adventists for hosting a free Health Fair prior to the event.”

Bermuda CableVision launched its “Open Hands Loving Hearts”food drive in April of this year. Since then, dozens of schools and several businesses and churches across Bermuda have participated by collecting food items and placing them in CableVision’s “big blue barrels”at various locations around the island. CableVision distributes the food to charitable organisations in Bermuda, starting with the Eliza Dolittle Society Food Bank, which was running nearly on empty when the food drive was launched. That has now changed, as the “Open Hands Loving Hearts” food drive has received numerous donations which have contributed to re-stocking the food bank.

CableVision’s General Manager Terry Roberson explains, “We have been truly amazed by the outpouring of support from the community for the ‘Open Hands Loving Hearts’ food drive, so we are looking forward to seeing a large crowd at this event. It will be an inspiring, uplifting evening that will entertain and delight families while helping a very worthy cause. Come one, come all!”
