Final Place Decided For PGA Grand Slam Of Golf

August 12, 2013

Sunday [Aug 11] saw the final player decide in the quest to play in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf to be held here in Bermuda October 14-16, 2013.

The sign at Port Royal Golf course should be updated soon to reflect the win on Sunday by Jason Dufner at the 95th PGA Championship at Oak Hill. Two years ago at the 93rd PGA Championship at Altlanta Athletic Club, Dufner lost to Keegan Bradley who was here in Bermuda at last year’s Grand Slam, but this year at Oak Hill, Dufner won his first Major by two shots over Jim Furyk at 10 under par.

Dufner now becomes the final player to qualify for golf’s most exclusive foursome, joining Masters champ Adam Scott, U.S. Open winner Justin Rose and Open Champion Phil Mickelson in Bermuda’s largest golf event of the year, the PGA Grand Slam.

Dufner entered the final round trailing Furyk by a shot, but was nearly flawless when it counted most. On the weekend, Dufner made just two bogeys in his final 28 holes — those were on the last two holes.

The PGA Grand Slam of Golf features a $1.35 million purse, with the winner receiving $600,000, second place $300,000, third place $250,000 and fourth place $200,000.
