“Hilarity for Charity” To Support Family Centre

August 22, 2013

Family Centre and BMDS Charitable Trust will benefit from performances by the “Hilarity for Charity” players. he talented group of Improv players led by Ms. Toby Butterfield will take the stage this Thursday [Aug 22] and Friday [Aug 23] at 8pm at the Daylesford Theatre in what will be the Cup Match of Comedy.

Ms. Butterfield, of Improv Bermuda explains, “Playing on the Cup Match theme was an easy choice. I love Cup Match and everyone I know loves Cup Match and their favorite team. Anyone coming to the show will come knowing which team they are supporting. Of course we did change it a little, just for the extra laughs; the competing teams are St. Gorgeous and Stunnerset! We’ll improvise our little hearts out and even if the teams walk away with a draw, our chosen charities will be winners.”

This show will provide a unique interactive comedic experience – TVs “Who Line Is It Anyway” meets Bermuda’s Cup Match. The audience should be prepared to laugh and cheer on their favorite teams, and will have the chance to call out suggestions to inspire the scenes. The cast of players are some of Bermuda’s brightest and best improv performers and will be joined on stage by a special overseas guest Joshua Budman from Montreal.

Mrs. Dismont, Executive Director of Family Centre stated, “We are grateful that we have been chosen as one of the charities to receive proceeds from this event. We are equally excited to lend our support to Ms. Butterfield from Improv Bermuda. Ms. Butterfield has been one of the lead performers at our annual ‘Celebrate the Night’ and we look forward to the shows.”

Ms. Butterfield commented, “It was easy to pick the Family Centre as one of the recipients of our first Hilarity for Charity show. They do such important work with our Island’s children and families and they have also given us exposure in the past by inviting us to perform at their big Celebrate the Night fundraiser. So this is a win win from our point of view, we get to do what we love….play improv games in front of an audience, and they get a donation to continue their work.”

Family Centre’s reach is five times greater than it was a few years ago. This is largely due to the responses to families and community partners that required more from us. “Commitment to community and support from events like ’Hilarity for Charity’ ensures we are able to assist with the urgent needs children and families are facing in Bermuda. We are preventing problems through our work with children and families in the community but we need everyone in Bermuda to support our cause,” added Mrs. Dismont.

Tickets are only $20 and can be purchased online here or at the theatre. If you would like more information, please call 232.1116.
