August 7, 2013

9453Somerset Captain Jekon Edness became the eighth different Somerset player to win the coveted Cup Match Classic Safe Hands Award.

The presentation took place at the Bermuda Healthcare Services Office, and was awarded to Edness for a catch to dismiss Allan Douglas Jr. With Malachi Jones steaming in from the western end, Douglas got an edge and Edness dove to his right to take a catch in front of slips.

Judge Dennis Wainwright said, “Firstly, I wish thank the Bermuda Healthcare Services and the Brown-Darrell Clinic for their continued support of the Safe Hands Cup Match Award. Their support is important and we on behalf of the players wish to thank them very much.”

Dr. Mahesh Reddy, the Medical Director, presented Edness with a $1,000.00 cheque and 2 Travel Vouchers, and Jekon Edness thanked  Bermuda Healthcare Services and the Brown Darrell Clinic for supporting this incentive for the players.
