Shadow Minister Congratulates Youth Footballers
Shadow Minister Michael Weeks congratulated the youth football teams following their showings in the Naples Cup in Florida and CONCACAF Tournament in Cayman Islands.
Mr Weeks said, “On behalf of the Bermuda Progressive Labour Party I would like to welcome our young athletes home. Like all Bermudians, we followed the exploits of the Bermuda National Academy Under/12, Under/13 and Under/14 teams at the Naples Cup in Florida as well as Bermuda’s Under/15 team at the CONCACAF tournament in the Cayman Islands.
“Their achievements highlight the fact that a majority of our young males are doing very well and making a positive mark on our island. Academic, athletic and social achievement by our young people rarely makes the headlines. Despite this, these young people represent their generation, not the small percentage who are participating in violent crime and other untoward behavior.
“I wish to thank our teams for the fine way they have represented our country. I encourage them to continue their efforts and be the shining lights for Bermuda’s future.”
