Videos: 2013 Around The Island Powerboat Race
Ryan Davidge and Andrew Osborne took line honors at the 2013 Around The Island Race on Sunday [Aug 11], also winning the FB Class while setting a new class record time of 46:56.
Speaking after the race, Mr Osbourne said: “We ran strong. The design of our boat allowed us to keep a consistent speed the entire race and that helped us a lot on south shore. It was a bit choppier than some were expecting but Ryan drove a smart race and kept us in the lead.
“A big thanks needs to be given to our sponsors who made this possible: Prestige Autos/Jeep, Ettrick Animal Hospital, Rubis, and Savage Racing Team. And most importantly our wives and their unlimited patience with us this past week! We had many a late night!”
Twelve of the fourteen boats that started the race covered the 54.2 mile race course with huge crowds of spectators lining the shoreline at their favourite vantage points and a large number of sea craft taking to the waters for an up close view of the race action.
