Woman Admits Stealing From Her Employer
Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Aug 13], Jennika Raynor Trott pleaded guilty to stealing over $500 from her employer.
This occurred between May and July of this year while the 23-year-old was employed at the Clarendon Pharmacy, and involved her voiding 22 sales slips.
The Court heard that a customer would buy item[s], Ms Raynor Trott would void the items to make it appear the customer returned them and received their money back, and then Ms Raynor Trott would keep the money.
Seeking mitigation, Duty Counsel Susan Moore-Williams told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner that Ms Raynor-Trott was a single mother of two small children and that she did not receive child support payments.
The Court also heard that Ms Raynor-Trott had been convicted of a similar offence when she was 16.
Magistrate Warner ordered a Social Inquiry Report and set sentencing for September. Ms Raynor-Trott was granted bail of $2,000.

How dumb can you be.
apparently, quite!
She gets a social inquiry and a guy listening to an iPod gets 40 days in prison! Bermuda is another world.
First off you the offense of the Ipod doesn’t warrant a social inquiry. Secondly the man elected to do 40 days in prison by choice.
@Bob, don’t jump to conclusions. She hasn’t been sentenced yet, so you don’t know what she will get. Plus the guy with the iPod chose 40 days over paying a fine of $400.
Wrong the guy Lindo knows damn well he wont spend but a night if that, because one of those relatives will go and pay the fine and he will walk, then they will cuss him out for being stupid. the girl on the other hand we don’t know why she committed the offence but to me it is also stupid, because she has a job and so many are trying to get one.
@Bob, if my math is correct, she’s looking at 50 days, if convicted, not bad…
Lets not be so judgemental. We all make mistakes.
Twenty-two times???
Perhaps, but the law and the “village” had come down harder on her when she was found guilty of the same at 16 – perhaps we would not be dealing with a repeat offender.
@Picks. One time is a mistake. 22 times and you knew exactly what you were doing. I know these are hard times, but you not put your job in jeopardy by stealing.
Good luck trying to find a job in the future. Then she will be mad at ex-pats when she is her own problem.
You assume….You shouldn’t do that.
she will find another job soon,, now if that was a black”man” he would be unemployed forever.. In other words, i am going to open up a can of worms, I am a black man and have been in the working world for almost 20 years, I can literally give you hundreds of stories of women in Bermuda stealing from their employers and the next week or month they are employed somewhere else.. I am not saying that black women don’t encounter racial prejudice and systematic discrimination, but they certainly don’t endure what the black male does..
too bad for her though, dont let money make you loose your soul
sorry hundreds was an overstatement!! but i can certainly give you numerous cases, well over 50 in which i have seen this happen.. apologies for the overzealous statement..
@Impressive: I think you’re right. I know a few women who have been convicted of stealing and they end up with better jobs than the one they lost! I don’t get it, but it does happen…
How embarrassing-name all over the news for 500 bucks?!!! I hope it was worth it and that $500 was spent wisely…
Her parents must be real proud.
The biggest problem that I see is that we rarely involve the police and push to prosecute. Someone steals, the police check their record and are told it is their first offence. Because rarely is anyone punished for their first offence the police and the victimized often just let them go. These people often can get away with the same offence time and time again because unless they are prosecuted it is always their “first offence”.
why do you people always have to bring skin colour into this?
Damn, I lose $500 playing poker weekly!!!!!!!! lol…..
Wow, really, well send $200 over here so I can get groceries for my kids. POKER?! Really wow; not judging or downing you just wish I had the privilege of money like that. STRUGGLING as a single mom
My mother’s employee stole one hell of a lot more than $500, and she was arrested more than 18 months ago. Why hasn’t this made the docket yet? What is the problem? Where is the justice? Does the defendant have connections? Is she the wrong race / citizenship?
All I know is that justice is all too slow, unless u know the right people.
How dumb can u be … all dat money u was getting well u claimed u was getting u go steal … ppl tried help u jacka**
