BUEI To Feature Lecture By Dr. Olivia Judson

judsonThe Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] will be featuring a lecture from Dr. Olivia Judson [pictured] n next week as part of its ongoing BUEI Citizen Scientist Lecture Series, giving attendees the opportunity to learn about the role that life has played and continues to play in shaping our planet.

Dr Judson, a graduate of both Stanford and Oxford universities and the daughter of famed science historian Horace Freeland Judson, will discuss the myriad ways that living organisms effect the geology and topography of our planet, exploring the interconnected relationship between terrestrial life and its home, including how that relationship encompasses humanity.

Known for her work in popular science, including her books Dr. Tatiana’s Sex Advice to All Creation and Dinosaur Eggs for Breakfast, along with her contribution to the popular New York Times Blog “The Wild Side,” Dr Judson’s is a fun and sensible voice in the always complex scientific community, making this a lecture well-worth hearing for anyone with an interest in Earthly biology – and a sense a humour.

Dr Judson’s lecture will take place on September 24th at BUEI, with the Harbourfront bar opening at 6:30 PM and the talk itself beginning at 7 PM. Tickets, costing $20 for members and $25 for non-members, can be purchased at the Oceans Gift Shop, or via telephone at 294-0204.
