Conyers Announces Scholarship Recipients

Conyers Dill & Pearman has announced its 2013 legal scholarship and bursary recipients, who have been recognised for their academic achievement and commitment to pursuing a career in the field of law.

This year, the firm is pleased to award Catherine Outerbridge with the prestigious Conyers Dill & Pearman Legal Scholarship Award. Valued at $30,000 per annum for up to three years, the award is presented to a well-deserving law student after a highly competitive selection process, which includes a written application and intensive interviews.

Catherine impressed the Scholarship Committee with her high level of academic achievement and a strong sense of integrity in both her civil and personal pursuits, which made her an excellent choice for Conyers’ Legal Scholarship Award. She is a recent cum laude [honours] graduate of Davidson College in North Carolina, USA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy, and has accepted a placement with Kaplan Law School in London, UK to study in the Graduate Diploma in Law program. Catherine has already taken steps to immerse herself in the legal community, joining Conyers as a work shadow student in 2012 and recently participating in the firm’s summer law student program, where she worked in the Corporate department.

In addition, Conyers awarded bursaries to Tomas Amaral, pursuing his LLB at the University of Kent; Marcus Bean, pursuing his LLB at the University of Kent; Hayley Joy, pursuing her LPC at BPP Law School London; Shannon Cann, pursuing her LPC/LLM at the University of Law at Bristol; and Cathryn Minors, pursuing her LPC/LLM at the University of Law at Bristol.

For over 30 years, Conyers has encouraged and supported Bermudian students wishing to enter the legal profession. This year, the firm is proud to award over $100,000 in scholarship and bursary money to assist students with achieving their educational goals in the pursuit of law.
