Lena Headey Appears On Sesame Street Show

September 20, 2013

Lena Headey, the Bermuda-born actress who shot to international fame for her portrayal of Cersei Lannister in HBO’s popular Game of Thrones series, recently made an appearance in the “Word on the Street” segment on Sesame Street.

Heady said “It was a guest role that meant a lot to her, having grown up watching Sesame Street in Bermuda” Entertainment Weekly reported. In the PBS show segment, Headey teaches kids the word “relax,” which she told EW on set was “ironic, ’cause I’m terrified right now!”

Headey’s Sesame Street segment aired in today’s episode, “Simon Says,” on PBS. Headey stars as Queen Gorgo, a heroic Spartan woman in the period film 300, by director Zack Snyder.

Headey was born in Bermuda when her father, former P.C. John Headey, was serving in the Bermuda Police Service.

I find it interesting that we on this little Island of ours are quite quick to jump on the star struck band wagon when it comes to highlighting our tenuous links to ‘Born-in-Bermuda’ stars but when it comes to defending the fair/equal treatment of the resident ex-pat community we are often mute/no where to be found! Why is that(rhetorical question)?

I am available for the Muppets pretty much anytime. I think a jolly Bermudian mandolinthingy-ist would go down a treat. I could play a couple (maybe three) chords. I could do a song about coffee.

I’m the luckiest I tell you.

She did a fantastic job in Game of Thrones. Great portrayal of the character!

  4. Silence Do Good says:

As a elderly widowed Bermudian female, I think all expats are super-star when they come to Bermuda. Bermuda employers over the decades have done their best to attract the brightest stars globally to help our economy and train our locals to keep Bermuda competative internationally.

Thank-you Mr. and Ms. Expat for considering Bermuda. Not all think you are not super-stars.

What is your view of your fellow Bermudians? We have more than enough people who idolize foreigners and scorn the local people.
