Local Artist Jonah Jones Cycles For Life

September 4, 2013

Local artist Jonah Jones is set to take part in the Cycle For Life, a grueling cycling challenge that will see him traverse 450 kilometres through the French and Italian Alps in the name of charity.

The event is being undertaken by a group of cyclists from around the world, each paying their own expenses in order to maximize the amount of donations collected. The five-day trip will provide each cyclist with unbeatable views of the expansive peaks, valleys, and villages that the Alps are so well-known for, beginning with the initial classic climbs of the Tour de France and ending in Monaco on the shores of the Mediterranean.

Jones will be raising money through both his participation and his donation of a beautiful painting depicting the event, with all proceeds going to support The Bermuda Arts Centre and the Patients Assistance League and Service (PALS).

The Cycle of Life Painting

With his artistic abilities matching his physical prowess, Jones has contributed a beautiful painting, seen below, to be auctioned off in the name of the same charitable causes. The piece depicts an allegorical scene that combines the hills of Bermuda with the Alps of Europe as several cyclists train, making it a very unique representation of the event as a whole, especially as it relates to Bermudians.

The painting, sized at 36″ by 36″ and framed courtesy of a donation by local framing company Frameworks, is currently available via silent auction at the Arts Centre of Bermuda. Bids can be made at the Centre itself, by contacting via telephone at 441-234-2809, or by email at artcentre@logic.bm.
