September 30, 2013

Logic announced they will be offering reduced Internet rates effective Tuesday [Oct 1], saying they are “committed to offering the best value in Bermuda.” The plans start at $29.95 per month for 2 Mb per second speed.

The Company said, “Recognizing the tough economic climate facing all, Logic is pleased to reduce the monthly costs of Internet. As the only Bermuda owned and operated telecommunications provider, we recognize how important the Internet is to our friends, families and neighbors. We hope these savings will help our customers overcome these challenging times.”

“Logic focuses on offering the best value which is exemplified with our new rates.” states Logic’s CEO Vicki Coelho, “The combination of Logic’s great customer service and reliable Internet provides the best value combination in Bermuda.”

Mrs. Coelho continued, “In the coming months, Logic will be offering new services which coupled with Logic’s reliable Internet will further enhance our customer’s home entertainment experience.”

Logic’s new plans are: 2 Mbps – $29.95, 4 Mbps – $39.95, 6 Mbps – $49.95, 8 Mbps – $59.95, 10 Mbps – $69.95, 15 Mbps – $89.95 and 25 Mbps – $149.95. Customers will automatically be lowered to the new rates.

If they would like to increase their speeds they can email support@logic.bm and request an upgrade. Customers will need to notify their data access provider if they are upgrading their service.

  1. Nuffin but da Truth says:

we’ll soon see if they are telling the truth when the bills arrive!

    • rainbow says:

      Good timing.
Digicel Internet down and cannot reach client support which I was told by a rep is overseas.

    • Lebron says:

They are still joke prices. Terrible quality and service and at prices many times the US and UK.

Why does the government let them get away with this?

  2. Micro says:

Not sure if I’d be happier with the lower cost or if I actually got the speeds and access I pay for

    • sonso says:

i was thinking the same thing mate! i pay for 8mb, northrock wireless, and some nights i dont even get 1mb! these companies should be actually focusing on making sure proper speeeds are delivered rather than adjusting prices IMO

  3. fasho says:

Haha. “Recognizing the tough economic climate facing all”… Oh please. Competition stopped their gouge fest.

    • somuchless says:

these people must think we’re dumb. yes its cause of competition.

  4. RawOnion says:

Strange but I was getting these prices with NorthRock before Logic took them over. They just honoured the price. But what I did notice was that my speed was faster under Northrock with the same MBPS as I have now with Logic. Maybe now I’m getting what I’m paying for.

    Next to cut them fees……Cablevision!!

    • Enforcer says:

Yes Cablevision next. Enough is enough. They need regulation big time! Its like having Cable and Wireless back in the day. Bring on Internet TV

      • Screaming Onion says:

So it is now more expensive to have cablevision bring it into my house $90 per month for 15meg. Than what you pay to your I.S.P. $85 criminal….The real problem in Bermuda is the Goverment enforced “dual” fee of having to pay a provider as well as your ISP. Its time to abolish this stupid rule & let free market prevail.

  5. Observent says:

SMH (Shaking My Head), this is sad. When all the other ISPs on the island dropped their prices, Logic alone kept their prices the same. I believe the true reason they dropped their prices to match TBI’s is because whatever customers they have left finally figured they can get the same service for a lower price from EVERY other ISP.

I know Logic was the first ISP on the island, but they are slow to react to the market, if they keep on that slow path, they would go the way of the dinosaurs, or other businesses which had failed in the past year or so.

  6. Come On Man says:

That’s all fine and dandy but how about BTC lowering their rates. Yeah Hell will freeze over first.

  7. Triangle Drifter says:

Not so sure of those speeds claimed. I am still finding carrier pigeon feathers behind the router.

  8. Come On Man says:

In spite of it all.Thank you Logic.

  9. Time Shall Tell says:

So basically all they did was price match TBI. However TBI offers free wifi hotspots & no contracts to lock you into so Logic is still trailing behind TBI.

  10. AkS says:

TBi still the go-to preferred ISP – over Digicel, BTC, NorthRock and Logic??

    • Micro says:

Well you can’t get any of those without BTC or Cablevision… unless its wireless.

  11. Comments welcome says:

    Logic doesnt have contracts anymore.

  12. frank says:

well done logic now lets hope that the dsl providers do the same or I forgot their the same guys keytech and friends

  13. Malcolm says:

Tough climate….Logic must think people are stupid , they would always match Tbi rates but you had to ask for it. If you didn’t ask then you was paying more. They must have lost a lot of customers to finally offer lower rates to everybody.

    • Ride says:

      @Malcolm

My thought as well. However, I still think I is better to go with TBI over Logic\Northrock as we need TBI alive and well in the retail market. Logic\Northrock are both owned by KeyTech so there no real competition between them. It it weren’t for TBI we’d all still be paying the ridiculous prices they have been gouging us with all these years. I changed to TBI after their price drop below their début pricing (after having Northrock match the their initial prices). I thought it would be better to keep TBI alive so true competition would be in the market.

Just think, all these years we could have been paying less for internet. Who setup this silly legislation for the separation of services by client type that has kept prices so high?

      Ride

  14. Some Guy says:

Logic Speed has been poor lately, paying for 8, lucking to get 3 on a good day. has anyone done an independent study off all ISPs, if not think that’s what needs to be done. price vrs actual speed deviled. then we can see who is best.

if ISPs don’t have contracts now maybe I will do the study up myself over the next few weeks

    • Seriously? says:

Don’t forget it’s not just the ISP that controls the speed. I used to have Logic 10MB but was getting slow speeds and when I looked in to it the Cablevision line only supported a max of 6MB. Cablevision also will not always upgrade the lines as it involves a lot of work. So before blaming the ISP, check with the cable provider too.

      • Some Guy says:

        very good point

will have to test from multiple locations, and use both BTC and Cable vision

        • Seriously? says:

It’s very tough to find out what is best, and all completely depends on your location. Best thing to do is knock on neighbours doors and ask them what their ISP speed and cable speed is and then do a speed test. Good luck!

  15. Wondering says:

I wonder if BTC will lower their prices too. I think it’s ridiculous you have to pay for a phone line that you won’t even use just to have internet.

    • Seriously? says:

Even in the UK you have to do this with BT, it’s just a hell of a lot cheaper!

  16. The truth shall set you free says:

“Recognizing the tough economic climate facing all, Logic is pleased to reduce the monthly costs of Internet.”

    Translated:

“Oh crap, all our competitors are charging much less than we are, and have been for several months now. We’ll begrudgingly reduce our rates before all our residential costumers leave us.”

  17. Malachi says:

I use TBI and Cablevision for 4 Meg.

Often, I do a speed test using an app which I downloaded.

The speed is always between 3.6 Meg and 3.8 Meg, which, in the overall scheme of things is pretty good.

The good thing about using TBI is that I get the benefit of the wifi “hotspots” in Hamilton and Dockyard (and I understand these “hotspots” will be broadened).

  18. Come On Man says:

Bottom line is these rates are way too high I’m talking about your the DSL provider as well. CV. BTC etc..

  19. Amazed says:

@Malcolm- they did not match TBI when I asked so I switched. It was a headache to have to switch because you have to remember everyone that you need to notify and I would have stayed with them but I am happy with the service from TBI.It never made sense that they did not respond to the competition since it represents a loss of business to them but an expansion for TBI since they did not do residential before!

  20. Wondering says:

Which is a better dsl provider. Cv or btc? ThinkinG about switchin!!

  21. backbush says:

both the same they are run by key tech so they are not really going have a price war like the isp are having at the moment
