Visitors Swim To Shore After Sailboat Capsizes

September 23, 2013

Two visitors swam to shore on Saturday [Sept 21] after their 17ft sailboat capsized in the Granaway Deep area.

A BMOC spokesperson said, “Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre received a report from a member of the public reporting 2 visitors sailing a 17ft sailboat in the vicinity east of Five Star Island, in Granaway Deep, who capsized their boat and swam ashore.

“The 2 persons were located safely ashore and un-harmed. Calls to vessels in the area eventually drew the response of a marine contractor with a barge who later recovered the boat which was pumped out and returned safely to its moorings.”

Glad everyone is alright. 5Star island is not in granaway deep though. It’s in the little sound or the area known as port royal.

    Colibm,
Story didn’t say Five Star Island was in Granaway Deep.
Story said EAST of Five Star Island in Granaway Deep.
