Tropical Storm Lorenzo Forms In The Atlantic

[Updated: The Depression has now strengthened into Tropical Storm Lorenzo.]

Tropical Depression 13 has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, however the Bermuda Weather Service said it is not a threat to the island at this time, and i’s closest point of approach to Bermuda within 72 hrs has passed.

As of 12pm today [Oct 21], the U.S. National Hurricane Center said the storm was located 650 miles east-southeast of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. The depression is forecast to become a Tropical Storm by later today or tonight, however weakening is likely to begin by Wednesday.

Update 6.44pm: The Depression has now strengthened into Tropical Storm Lorenzo, becoming the season’s twelfth named storm.
