Walikraam Gets Scholar-Athlete Award Nod
Bermudian golf phenom Tariqah Walikraam has been selected as a Hurricanes’ Scholar Athlete of the year, thanks to her great success in representing her current school, Canada’s Holland College, on the golf course.
With this latest honour, she has become one of 44 students selected as Hurricanes’ Scholar Athletes of the year in 2013.
Ms. Walikraam’s most recent accolades came just last month, when she won two Atlantic Canada regional tournaments, topped off with a team silver medal at the individual Canadian Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association’s [ACAA] Championships this past weekend.
In 2012 she was elected All Canadian for golf by the CCAA in Canada, one of only six college women in the entire country, before also being named athlete of the week three times with Holland College in 2012, and Athlete of the Week with the ACAA and the CCAA in 2012. The Bermuda-born golfer also received the Hurricanes MVP award in March 2013.
Ms. Walikraam will graduate with a certificate in Golf Club Management and a diploma in Professional Golf Management in 2014.
