Man Charged: Sex Assault Of Bermuda Woman

A 32-year-old British tourist in Australia has been charged with having sexual intercourse without consent with a then-21-year-old Bermuda woman he met at beachside bar on January 22, 2012.

Gregory Charles Cox, 32, has pleaded not guilty to the charges the Australia’s 9 News reported.

The report says that Crown Prosecutor Elizabeth Wilkins SC told the jury at the opening of his trial in Australia on Thursday [Nov 28] that after several hours of drinking the pair walked on the beach together before the alleged assault took place.

The woman left the beach crying and sought the help of a couple who took her to Bondi Police Station, the jury heard. The trial continues and is expected to last approximately two weeks.

    They can name a foreigner but can’t name a Bermudian offender..

      To explain, it has nothing to do with the nationality of the alleged sex offenders, it’s to do with jurisdiction.

      No defendant, regardless of nationality, charged with sex offense in Bermuda can be legally named before a conviction, however this case is isn’t taking place in Bermuda.
