Nov 13th: CCS To Host Nutanix For IT Seminar

November 6, 2013

Local systems integrator, CCS, will host Nutanix at an event for the IT industry on Wednesday, November 13 from 8:30am to 11:30am at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.

CCS and Nutanix will discuss server and storage use cases that are common to Bermuda businesses, specifically, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure [VDI], Disaster Recovery [DR] and Catastrophe Modelling.

Nutanix is a San Jose, California-based technology company, which has taken note of what the leading cloud providers such as Google, Amazon Web Services and Facebook are doing.

A spokesperson said, “When these service providers set out to design a next-generation datacentre, they started from scratch. They understood that if they relied upon traditional hardware-centric architectures, which demanded ever more powerful servers, networks and storage arrays, they would fail. Instead they embraced a software model that was implemented on clusters of hardware.

“They also took the step of converging compute and storage resources into a single tier, thereby removing the complexity of a storage network. By integrating datacentre intelligence into software instead of hardware, and eliminating costly network infrastructure, Google and others have been able to realize both massive scale and rapid feature velocity.

“At the same time, they have achieved unprecedented economics by eliminating the need to upgrade hardware simply to achieve greater performance or scale, while still increasing overall reliability.

“Nutanix has incorporated these same design principles into its Virtual Computing Platform. For the first time, Google-like scale and performance is available to mainstream enterprises. The Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform converges compute and storage into a single system, eliminating the need for traditional storage arrays.

“The Nutanix platform includes up to four individual server nodes housed in a space-efficient, 2U rack-mountable appliance. Each server node is equipped with best-in-class Intel processors and high-speed memory for the most demanding workloads.”

“There are a lot of benefits to the Nutanix solution but the value of some of those benefits such as simplified management, reduced footprint and reduced power consumption are all amplified in Bermuda due to the cost of skilled people, space and electricity,” states Kory Logan, Sales and Marketing Director for CCS.

“The return on investment our customers are seeing with the Nutanix solution are better than any other technology we’ve represented.”

Ian Cook, CCS General Manager, says, “Once you understand the architecture, the advantages are obvious. Several Bermuda businesses have already invested in the platform and are experiencing great returns. Nutanix has become one of CCS’ fastest growing offerings. It is truly a revolutionary solution.”

Space at the event is limited, Those interested in attending can RSVP to Sylvia Jones at Corporate Concierge on [441] 296-8663 or email eventrsvp@ccs.bm.
