  1. Handbag Basher says:

    Welcome to Jammuda

    • Your comments are very cruel and I think you owe apology to our Jamaican residence in Bermuda, I don’t know how old you are but if you research crime Bermuda, especially back in the 60′s-70′s and 80′s it may surprise you how many knife and machete attacks really took place by Bermudians.

Many did not all fight with our fist or a piece of 2 x 4, many took it to that level but most cases were never reported unless it became a life threatening situation or a murder.

People will be people the world over and the unfortunate part is, that among some of these people we have jack asses, hopefully you don’t fit into that category, apologize to this community for speaking out of turn, especially if you were not present when the attack took place, also for the record, even if it were a person who was Jamaican of is of Jamaican roots, you can not attack all because of the actions of one.

So if you don’t like my comments then deal with me, not my culture my family or nationality.I am me and I have big shoulders that are more powerful then the crap that came out of your mouth.

      • Handbag Basher says:

Frankly Santucci,I don’t give a damm what you think or say!

        • Really?? says:

Be an adult Handbag Basher! If this happened to someone in your family, how would you feel? You’re a very immature and senseless person and probably need to grow the hell up! No one needs to be attacked by anything. There are right and wrong ways to resolve conflicts, and injuring someone is not one of them!

      • RawOnion says:

How many times did Jamaica claim the title of murder capital of the western hemisphere? Anyway, Bermuda has steadily over the years been heading in the same direction when it comes to acts of violence. So I understand Handbag Basher’s analogy of the situation.

      • Gopher says:

Jamaica is far FAR more violent than Bermuda and if a Jamaican is offended by that fact I think its just being unrealistic. Do you mean to say that we can’t look at horrible examples of crime and use pun to express our distaste? Would you feel the same if someone said Compton and Watts or Iraq? We do not want to live like Jamaica and unfortunately we’re going that way. Don’t pretend that that is offensive. I’ll bet you Jamaicans are not offended at all.

        • Watcher55 says:

We certainly are going backwards and our island is indeed a microcosm now with the highest murder and armed robbery rates in our history, we can blame who we like but fact is the people in charge of the BPS have been in their jobs since the carnage began, they are still in their jobs and it’s a good guess the carnage will continue until such time as the BPS has a leader and a direction

        • Chit Chat says:

If you are ignorant enough to truly believe that, I say you should test your theory by expressing your opinion to a Jamaican. I wouldn’t be surprised to find yourself eating those words…LITERALLY!

          • Jammuda says:

Right, so you are saying a JamaiCAN would respond violently to Gopher’s ‘opinion’ (it is a fact actually) that Jamaica is far more violent than Bermuda?
You have hurled the worst insult at Jamaican people because while others are saying how violent Jamaica is as a country compared to Bermuda YOU are accusing all JamaiCANS of being violent as a people, which nobody here has said but you. Congratulations! Now eat your OWN words.

          • Gopher says:

You can’t literally eat words, unless you mean to literally eat words figuratively which cancels out the literal bit bringing us back to…you can’t literally eat words.
You aren’t exactly doing Jamaicans any justice by suggesting they’d react violently to me stating a fact. Could you be a little less self-defeating please? It makes us feel redundant.

        • Reality Check says:

I am of a Jamaican background. Yes, Jamaica can be a very violent place just like anywhere else in the world. But what I will say is because of my roots I am a very open-minded individual who is fully aware the the world as a whole has its good points and its bad points. I will also say that I am very proud of my Jamaican background because even though the place is so violent we have many doctors, lawyers, social workers and people who’s family have come from nothing but has pushed them to be someone. We are a proud people and no matter what we do, we do it to the best of our ability. So even though we may have a bad reputation sometimes as you can see Bermuda does as well. We now have many Bermudians who are doing very well too and sometimes the ones who do not do very well may give the other ones a bad name. All I can say is who feels it knows and Karma always comes back around. So when your family member does something bad and someone says just like the family and generalizes, you will then know the feeling of putting a label on everyone due to a few people’s actions. So say what you want, freedom of speech. Jamaica has the poor, the rich and the wealthy just like anywhere else. But we are a spirited people and other just want to be like us and gravitate towards us. I am Bermudian too and I am proud of that as well. A Jamaican who has come from nothing but who walks with the head high because I have been able to reap good rewards coming from nothing. So talk on!!! No one will hold us back but ourselves. Out of many, One People!!!

    • Time Shall Tell says:

Today hole in the wall, tomorrow could be your neighborhood. Until we all finally stop looking as these being distant from home & nothing more then a new gossip topic (not saying this applies to you but I have stopped counting the number of times at work these incidents are treated like the latest episode of some sitcom) it will continue.

  3. Django unchained says:

@ Handbag Basher, what do you mean by welcome to Jamaica

    • Pay Attention says:

@Django They didn’t say jamaica they said Jammuda….

      • The Dark Knight Returns says:

Smh. I didn’t even check that. Just as bad though. Thank you for pointing that out to me.

        • Gopher says:

So you and Django Unchained are the same person? Gotcha! Lol

      • frank says:

  5. Come On Man says:

    Girls fighting?

    • Floyd Pitcher says:

Sign of the times. I was told the person brandishing the gun while robbing Raynors gas station was a girl/woman.

  6. Come On Man says:

    A Machete was used.

  7. swing voter says:

great …. another guy who can’t fight with his fists so he has to get a chopper…big man

    • Sheldon Cares says:

So what do you call girls?

    • tricks are for kids says:

Are you referring to this article or did something else happen?…this incident involved females

    • Bernews says:

To clarify, as the confusion is somewhat due to our posting, swing voter posted before we updated. We heard it was a female, but weren’t 100% on that so just referred to the “person” to be sure, and updated it once confirmed.

  8. Y-Gurl says:

Cops actually arrested two people?? We’ll they met their quota for This month, cat fight

  9. just sick says:

Im so disgusted with the young generation….. there are no words for them. And I dont. Want to hear from none of these parents of the two individuals arrested. Dont. Come to court saying your child is this and that. I see it all the time. They should be locked up. Straight to jail. Convicted for attempted mutder and no lesser charge. No plea agreements nothing. Lessons need to be learnt.

    • smh says:

I am part of the young generation! I am smart, doing something positive with my life and plan on returning to Bermuda one day with my degree to do positive things for the island…. There are PLENTY of us good ones! Don’t let the negative ones affect the way you think of the entire generation.

      • Interested says:

I get the feeling you won’t allow the comments of some to take root in your sense of self – there will always be that person or group of persons who thrives off negativity and they are bets left to their own small-mindedness. There are many members of the younger generation who are doing positive things and aiming to return home to execute their knowledge. Those of your generation who opt for alternative activities are truly not the norm. Keep your head up and let the negativity of others be the catalyst to keep you striving for success!

    • Truth is killin' me... says:

Society through the courts, judges, and jury have allowed the denegration of this once beautiful island. Women and men such as these individuals think they can do acts like this with impunity and escape punishment from others and the LAW!!

    • Haz says:

If you choose NOT to support the younger generation, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS…

Don’t put us all in a box. You completely ignore the ones who ARE trying to be positive…

And your generation is NOT filled with angels, thank you.

  10. Truth is killin' me... says:

    “That’s my man…BIATCH!!!” CHOP…CHOP!!!

    • Um Jus Sayin says:

I hear that it was relationship related, but same gender. “That’s my BIATCH….IATCH!!!” WTF.

  11. babygirl says:

    This is the new bermuda.

    • Y-Gurl says:

This has been the new Bermuda since 2007 and with the less that useful people in charge of law and order and public safety I fear this will be the norm for us going forward with the crime infested, gun toting criminal element that the BPS cant put an end to has tarnished us as a destination and a place to live

  12. Nick says:

Yes I can visulize… Machetes in one hand and cell phones in the other!

  13. Come On Man says:

I didn’t see where there was a reference to Jamaica in this blog. And yes there were 2 women who act like girls involved smart a$$.

  14. REALLY? says:

this is really sad news…women fighting with machetes…what next?

  15. When did conversation fail when used. If you need to fight you’re really a sad case of a lack of emotional control. Mom’s didn’t train ya arses well at all. If it was over some men…let him go cause it wasn’t meant to be from jump street. Over money, stay home and stop spending it on BOOZ, ya boo and club life. Get an education and good job.

And if you took the knife and machete to Bay Club so you could act the arse, you are just SOME REAL SICK *****. Get a life.

  16. REALLY? says:

Just Sick….i totally agree with you!! WELL SAID! enough is enough!

  17. letmypeoplego says:

Onion, your just as dumb as the one the cross dresser “handbag”..

    • Handbag Basher says:

the ONLY Cross Dresser here is you little boy,put your momma’s dress away and lose that chip off your shoulder!

  18. Ruthless says:

Nowadays it could have been over another women!!!! Have you ever seen the female fights outside of the Beach on Front Street?

  19. Truth is killin' me... says:

Ahhhhh lesbians…fighting like men! Could might well be. I’ve seen some hard gals walking around with shaved eyebrows, wearing wife beaters and girlfriend in tow. Go to church and repent!

  20. Unjrust Realities says:

If we go back and read our comments here, how on earth can we expect different from the young people. We are supposed to be mature adults but yet we are here making generalizations and slinging nasty comments back and forth at each other, and we are wondering what went wrong with our children?????

  21. biggadon says:

    its called the new normal…….unfortunately

  22. Opinions says:

Each one of us will experience much suffering in order to seek peace. My hope is that Each one of us seek peace and not war with each other and war with ourselves. We are our own worst enemies. Peace be with each of you no matter where you are in this very moment. Forgive yourself for the past, ask for for forgiveness and forgiveness will free you of the burden. Have compassion, be there for someone in need. We are all connected somehow whether we believe it or not. Namaste xx

  23. Next says:

What type of woman fights at a club with machetes? Where they do that at? Of course they’re from St. Georges. Birds!

    • Super says:

      Lesbiens

      • Sandy Bottom says:

Putting aside your mis-spelling of a pretty easy word, we all know the likelihood is they are absolutely straight, and were probably fighting over some lazy-ass gang thug.

  24. swing voter says:

    lost souls….Bay Club Rachett

  25. dit says:

lol (Jammuda) i really like the new name. I am from the Caribbean and have visited Bermuda several times and i must admit i like it there but the Jamaican influence there leaves a lot to be desired i think it going to ruin your beautiful island.in my country i don’t know a handful of them that are genuine and in my profession i know a lot of Jamaicans.

  26. typical says:

    “THE HOOD”

  27. thevoice says:

You are so illiterate. How can you say jamaican influence will ruin Bermuda. Bermudians, the recession, and politics contributes to the changing atmosphere in Bermuda. Whereever island you are from mind your own business you dumb **** and know some history before writing some ludacris comment. And the jammuda name. Another wanna be Jamaican dumb ****. Stop put the fault on jamaicans. Some Bermudians don’t have a mind of their. Take responsible for their own actions. The world violence is increasing. Stop blaming other countries for the stupidity occurring in Bermuda. Some Bermudians will always always and forever hate foreigners.

  28. X man says:

Unfortunately the mindset and the mentality of many Bermudians has changed for the worse.
In recent years It appears that Bermudians and even some expat residents of all race’s have taken up
the concept of inflicting both verbal and physical violence as a means of solving disputes.
The sad part is it becoming cultural if not the standard.

True examples in the past 6 mouth’s.
Pilipino Women : “I’ll kill her if she takes my shift “- outside a restaurant in Southampton
Bermudian White Man about 30 yrs old: ” I told de bye I’ll chop him up if he tells her” – Gas Station
Bermudian Black women about 40 yrs old : “I ‘ll slap the hell out of that b…th ” – on a Cell phone – outside of KFC
Bermudian student: ” let her say one more word to me and I’ll stab her” – on a cell phone out side City Hall

What have we become’ – and were are we going with all this violence

    • dit says:

The Voice, I wrote my piece and I read and understand yours. whats the meaning of illiterate?. Please remind me. prove my point you must be Jamaican.

      • thevoice says:

Listen, go back to school and educate yourself dit which means dumb idiot tomfool. And so what if i am either jamaican bermudian british indian Chinese or American black or white. The point is it doesn’t matter. All that matters is i am a human making a difference in this depondence world. People like you make me sick. My point to you is spread the message of peace in Bermuda. I am proud to be human……..stop the violence and lets all get along….
