Can someone clarify what the actual marijuana laws are in jamacia.

    • Mr G says:

      That simple, ITS ILLEGAL!!!

      • Tommy Chong says:

Yes it is, but when this crop is a major supporter of the countries economy, it’s openly sold & used on streets & at events people walk around selling it in wicker baskets full to the brim most would wonder about it’s legality. Also 200 lbs is really small time to anyone who knows about the quantity that is grown on the island. This seems to be more of a ganja tourist shakedown than anything else.

    • sage says:

The laws against ganja in Jamaica are: an unjust, unnecessary, counterproductive, harmful, offensive, draconian, barbaric, hypocritical, baseless folly, just like here in Bermuda!!

  22. more than enough says:

thus the necessity for reform…the $ are too atractive to resist, even government is trying to formulate a plan to get a cut

  23. ABM says:

Hmmmmmm, applying the countries laws, Im willing to bet that these guys get off. Key phrase in the story is, “a further search was conducted in nearby bushes where the police allegedly found “200 pounds of cured compressed ganja which was prepared for export.”
Of course my outcome is dependent upon whether finger prints, video footage, or actual line of sight was involved. Cash alone is not enought to convict these men as many Bermudians travel Jamaica with that amount of cash or more on them. IJS
