Threatening Words: Man Sentenced To 31 Days
A 22-year-old man who admitted threatening the mother of his ex-girlfriend and said he does daily patrols around the island, appeared in Magistrates Court this morning [Dec 5] where he received a 31 day prison sentence.
Kevin Simmons, who has been in custody since his first appearance in October 2013, was given a thirty-one day prison sentence plus two years probation with a curfew. On the second count of carrying a bladed article, he was also given two years probation.
In his first appearance back in October, the Court heard that Mr Simmons was outside the residence of his ex-girlfriend, saw her mother at a window and shouted “Open that window or I’ll beat s*** out of you.”
The mother called police. When police arrived Simmons ran off, but was captured and arrested after a short chase, and found to be in possession of a knife.
In October, Mr Simmons had told the Court: “I do daily patrols around the Island. I do it by myself. I’ve been jumped and attacked and I carry a knife for protection.”
Mr Simmons’ sentence came after the Senior Magistrate had reviewed Social Inquiry and Psychiatric Reports that had been prepared on him. The Magistrate described the Psychiatric report as unhelpful.

He sounds like he has a lot of social challenges. Get him the help needed at his expense. I use to see him walking around my neighborhood with a hat on where you can’t see his face. Was I scared or what!!!???
