Man Pleads Guilty To Stealing Bottles Of Whiskey

January 31, 2014

Appearing in Magistrates Court on Thursday [Jan 30], Keivon Scott [31] pleaded guilty to stealing four bottles of whiskey from Lindos’s in Warwick on 20th January 2014. He acknowledged taking a bottle of Jonny Walker Red, Johnny Walker Black, Dewars, and Crown Royal with a total value of over $140.

All of Scott’s actions were caught on the store’s CCTV. Scott was finally found and arrested by police on 28th January 2014.

In Court, Scott told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner that he had been unemployed. He told the Magistrate, “Given an opportunity to have a job, I would never do anything like this. I was doing it to make money.” He told the Magistrate that he had now been promised a job.

Following Scott’s explanations, the Senior Magistrate described him as a smooth-tongued talker. The Magistrate reviewed Scott’s criminal record and said that Scott’s convictions for offences of this nature went back fifteen years to 1999. Asked where he lived, Scott told the Magistrate that he lived with his grandmother.

The Magistrate set sentencing for March, set bail at $2,000 with one Surety, ordered Social Inquiry and BARC reports, and imposed the bail condition that Scott must stay away from all Lindo’s stores.
